Vaidya Nanal family is pride of our country and abroad and their contribution to Ayurveda domain over past 100 years is remarkable. The journey started with Late Purushottamshastri Nanal who started in 1915 with his clinical work and he truly institutionalized Ayurveda in early 1900.
He along with some of his likeminded fraternity members started most of the pioneering institutes in Pune. His vision was to give an institutional base to aspiring students of Ayurveda and help them with authentic teachings along with hands on experience of medicines manufacturing and clinical experience. With this motive he started Tilak Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, Ayurveda Rasashala and Seth Tarachand Ramnath Hospital.
He also initiated Geervan Vag Vardhini – for better propagation of Sanskrit language, Ved Shastrottejaka Sabha – a platform for conferences and events and a Gymnasium for physical development of the students known as Samartha Vyayam Mandir. All these institutes are function till date and are taken care by different trusts.
A time before independence Ayurveda was the main healthcare system in our society. These institutes were serving the community since then or even before that. Late Purushottamshastri Nanal was actively involved individually and institutionally as well in healthcare systems during those times, and he continued to do so till his last times.
His work was carried further by their descendants Late Vaidya Madhusudan Purushottam Nanal, who was a great clinician and Nadivaidya. He had an excellent had on science of Mercury and did a vast experimentation with different metals and minerals and mercury. HeBruhattrayeeratna Vaidya Vilas Nanal took a lot of efforts and did a lot of research work on reversal of Cardiac disorders, Thalassemia. In association with Janakalyan Blood bank Nanal trust worked successfully on HIV patients and results were noticeable. The trust has also taken efforts in creating awareness about Ayurveda in tribal regions of Maharashtra. They conducted training camps for folk practitioners and created manuals for their formal training and lending them expert hand with backing of the authentic Ayurvedic knowledge.
Nanal Ayurveda research Foundation is an organization registered with Government regulatory authorities under the Section 8 Company. Even though it came in to being in a Section 8 company very lately, the history of organization dates to 1996 when the primary organization “Vaidya M. P. Nanal Ayurveda Foundation” was formed. This was a public charitable trust and was actively working since inception in many fields and dedicatedly working for the propagation and social upliftment of Ayurveda. The main goals of the organization are to promote Ayurveda in its true from in society and help it attain its true status and glory.
Nanal Foundation also conducts many free charitable OPD`s which distribute free medicines to the poor and needy people of society. This shows their awareness of social responsibilities. The perfectly believe that we owe a lot to the society, nature, and people around as we inherit a lot from them. It`s always a give and take relationship between man and nature, and this harmony is of great importance and we all should take steps in this direction.
The trust has always been active since 1996 in organizing National level conferences, events, essay competitions where knowledge exchange was the main agenda. We have been successful in organizing more than 50 plus such events in last 26 years and more that 30 to 40 thousand students and doctors across the nation would have benefited from these activities of the trust.
Since 2019 we have started with our official You Tube channel “Ayurvedayan” to make these archival recordings to be made available for the community free of cost. This channel was launched in Augustcon 2019 at the Hands of Deputy Chief Minister, Tripura State, Hon. Shri Jishnu Dev Barmaji and in the presence of, Bruhattrayeeratna Ramesh Nanal, Dr. Ashutosh Gupta President MCIM, Mr. Ranjit Puranik Director Shree Dhootpapeshwar Ltd. The Chanell has received a tremendous response and has almost 2500 subscribers and a very good viewership also.
